Tharoor ka Suroor

Decision pending.. decision pending..
And here goes the red light!
Finally he has been given out. The third umpire at 7, Racecourse road took his time to come up with the verdict and had to consult even the match referee at 10, Janpath considering the complexity of it. The very controversial nature of the appeal had prompted the two umpires on the ground entrusted with the task to momentarily pause scratching their heads about the country’s economy and defense, as they also happen to be union ministers holding the topmost portfolios, and eventually it was referred upstairs.

The decision marked the end of almost a year’s tenure of the minister of state for External Affairs – Shashi Tharoor. The 56 year old’s batting throughout this inning on the political pitch had been edgy. The former UN office holder began his ministerial journey in luxurious hotel, then travelled “cattle class” and made his views public over the wisdom of Father of the Nation and the First Prime minister. He did not stop at that. He visited Saudi Arabia and assigned them the status of interlocutor between India and its archrival. He drew the ire of his boss for tweeting his views over important policy matters. Nevertheless, he managed to survive all these audacities. The “equity” he earned by the “sweat” of his brow did him in though. It seemed increasingly difficult to tidy up the internal affairs of the minister to allow him to concentrate on the more important external ones.

A tiger recently came out of the woods. Wish Tharoor to get over his suroor soon.
